Japanese words of the rainy season

We are now in rainy season here in Japan.

The season starts from beginning of June to the end of July.

We Japanese call the season “Tsuyu” or “Baiu” and write “梅雨” in Kanji or Chinese characters.

“雨” represents “rain”.

There are so many other words and phrases using “雨” in Japan.

This is the photo of the book collected “雨” words.

Rainy season starts from the same time Japanese plums, “梅” bear fruits.

So “Tsuyu” or “Baiu” , “梅雨” in Kanji represents both rainy season and Japanese plums’ season.
